Health, safety & site rules (all visits)

These points apply to every appointment, including installations.

Safe isolation

To ensure everyone’s safety, the power will be disconnected where we are working. We rely on your consumer unit being correctly labelled; if it is not, we cannot be held liable for the accidental shutdown of incorrect circuits. Please save all work and shut down sensitive electronics before we arrive.

PPE & safety footwear

Safety is our number one priority. We do not remove our safety boots — professional footwear is mandatory PPE for electrical work (impact and electric shock protection), and for insurance and compliance they must stay on. We usually carry disposable over-shoe covers and are happy to wear those if you would prefer an extra layer of protection for your floors.

Commercial waste

Waste produced during electrical work is legally classified as commercial waste. Disposal requires a specific Waste Carriers License and high commercial fees. To keep your project costs competitive, we do not remove waste unless specifically quoted. We will bag everything up for you to dispose of in your domestic bins or at a local recycling centre.

Workspace prep

Please clear furniture and obstructions from work areas (sockets, lights, consumer units, routes for ladders) before we arrive. We are unable to move heavy furniture. Additionally, for their safety, please keep pets and children in a separate room while work is in progress.

Landlords, agents & multi-unit testing

Access & discounts

Discounted rates for multi-tenant properties are based on a single, predefined session. We require full access to all areas we need during this window.

Voiding discounts

If we cannot gain access to a room or unit, requiring a return visit, the multi-unit discount is voided. Subsequent visits will be charged at our standard individual rates.

Keys

Please ensure keys are functional and ready upon arrival. Time spent rectifying key issues or waiting for access is billable.

Making the day easier

The ‘flask’ tip

Power may be cut within minutes of arrival in the areas we are working. If you need your morning caffeine fix, please make a cup or fill a flask just before we get there!

Internet

If your router is on a circuit we need to isolate, Wi-Fi may drop. Ensure mobile devices are charged and you have a data plan ready if you are working from home.

Installation work — what to expect

Positions & decisions

For new sockets, lights, and accessories, it helps to have someone on site who can confirm final positions. Last-minute changes can affect cable runs, time on site, and cost; we will always agree any variation with you before proceeding.

Chasing, drilling & making good

Installing accessories often means drilling walls and ceilings, lifting floorboards, or cutting access. We minimise mess and protect surfaces where we can; fine filling and redecoration after larger chases may be your decorator’s job unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

Noise & dust

Expect intermittent noise from drills and vacuum extraction. Loft or roof-space work may require ladder access; please keep the route clear.

Testing new circuits

New or altered circuits are tested to BS 7671 before handover. Brief power cycling or insulation tests can occur; we will tell you when the installation is signed off and safe to use.
