Health, safety & site rules (all visits)
These points apply to every appointment, including fault finding.
Safe isolation
We will need to switch circuits and the main supply on and off while testing. Please tell us about any medical equipment, stairlifts, or other kit that must not lose power without warning. We plan isolation to keep you safe — advance notice helps.
PPE & safety footwear
We do not remove our safety boots — they are mandatory PPE for electrical work and must stay on. Disposable over-shoe covers are available on request.
Commercial waste
Replacement accessories and packaging may be commercial waste. Removal is only included if quoted; otherwise we will bag items for your domestic disposal.
Workspace prep
Please clear access to the consumer unit, affected rooms, and loft hatches if we may need to trace cables. Keep pets and children in a separate room while we work.
Landlords, agents & tenants
Access & keys
Fault finding often needs the tenant present to reproduce an intermittent issue. Please arrange access for all relevant areas and working keys.
Making the day easier
Internet
If we need to isolate circuits that feed your router, have a phone hotspot ready if you work from home.
Fault finding — what to expect
Symptoms & history
Before we arrive, note which breaker trips, how often, and whether rain, a particular appliance, or a room is involved. Photos of the consumer unit with the tripped device can help. The more detail, the faster we can narrow the search.
Intermittent power
Expect circuits to be turned on and off repeatedly. Insulation resistance and continuity tests are normal. Do not reset everything yourself before we arrive unless you need to for safety — tell us what you have already tried.
Parts & return visits
Some faults need parts we do not carry as standard, or a second visit after ordering. We will explain options and costs before replacing equipment.
